M.M Keren Neeman

Born in Israel in December 1977
In January 2003 Ms. Neeman graduated Magna Cum Laude in piano interpretation

and pedagogy from Tel Aviv University and moved to Costa Rica.

In the year 2005 she received the Academic Innovation Award from the UNAM and UNA (National university of Costa Rica).

Ms. Neeman has performed twice at the prestigious Carnegie Hall, New York in the year 2005

She performed as a soloist with the National Symphony orchestra of Costa Rica and with the National Wind orchestra of Costa Rica as well.

Ms. Neeman has offered several solo recitals in the National Theater of Costa Rica including the opening recital of the first “Piano Season” in Costa Rica.

Before opening Escazú Music Academy, Ms Neeman worked at the Instituto Superior de Artes and the National University.


Lic. Diego Diaz
Music theory professor


He was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1942 and has lived in Costa Rica since 1976.

In Uruguay, he studied piano, composition and percussion. He was a timbalist for the Municipal Symphony Orchestra of Montevideo from 1965 to 1973. There, he composed the music for many theater plays and ballets. He was awarded first place, category B, in the annual Musical Youths contest of Uruguay (1953), he integrated the trio to the best stage music for the Critical Circle of Montevideo (1966), and won the open composition contest organized by the Universidad de la República (1967).

In Costa Rica, he was a professor at the Music School of the Universidad Nacional (1976-2004), at the Youth Program for the National Symphony Orchestra (1976-1984), at the National Theater Workshop for the MCJD (1977-1991), among other institutions and, currently, since 1999, at the Instituto Superior de Artes. In his teaching, he has held several positions that involve directing and coordinating. He has also written the music for 22 plays, five movies and one ballet. Besides collaborating for several periodical publications ("Escena" and "Aportes" magazines, "Ancora" sunday supplement, etc), he is the coauthor of "Elementary Reading Course", the solfegge method used in Costa Ruca and part of Central America. He is also coauthor of the book "Where is Ma Teodora? Musical reading based on african-american rhytmic principles", which is also used in the US, and author of both "Music, theory and practice" volumes, used in secondary schools.


Melisa Raquel Calderón
 

Born in Mendoza, Argentina May 29 of 1982. In 1999, she graduated as Elementary Piano teacher in Neuquen.

Melisa has played in Neuquen (Argentina), Cipolletti (Rio Negro, Argentina), Melbourne (Florida), Instituto Superior de Artes (ISA), Universidad Nacional, Centro Cultural de Alajuela.

She works as an assistant of Lic. Diego Diaz at the Instituto Superior de Artes, teaching music theory.
At the moment, she is in her last year to graduate as Music Teacher at the Universidad Nacional in Heredia.


Jorge Sancho
Guitar Teacher


He was born in San Carlos, Alajuela, Costa Rica on october 14th, 1984. He started his musical studies in 2000 with Efrain Vargas as a teacher. In 2003, he entered the National University to study music, specializing in guitar teaching and interpretation.

In 2004 he started lessons with the cuban teacher M.M. Jorge Luis Zamora and in the same year he started teaching guitar in the municipal school of Santa Barbara, Heredia. In 2008 he finished his studies, under M.M. Jorge Luis Zamora, M.M. Pablo Ortiz and Lic. Sergio Carrera.

He has participated in classes with professors who have had a great international trajectory such as David Russell, Leo Brouwer, Eduardo Martín, Rafael Padrón, Carlos Barboza Lima, and others. He has performed in several important halls such as Teatro Melico Salazar and Teatro 1887.
